Most tutoring treats the symptom. Thornwick starts by diagnosing the real cause.
Students often miss key foundations from previous years that quietly undermine everything built on top.
Students repeat the same errors without realising, because no one has ever named the pattern.
Students know the maths but lose marks unnecessarily to timing, layout, and command-word mistakes.
Thornwick identifies all three before any tuition begins.
The Thornwick Diagnostic Assessment pinpoints the specific gaps, misconceptions and technique issues holding your child back — before a single tutoring session begins.
Every programme starts from your child's diagnostic results — not a generic syllabus. Ongoing programmes run two sessions a week for consistent progress.
Fully personalised tuition built around your child's diagnostic results and target grade.
Personalised tuition built around your child's exam board, current level and target grade.
GCSE exam-prep groups for Year 9, 10 and 11 — small groups of max 5 students, grouped by year and ability.
Focused revision ahead of mocks and final examinations.
A clear, structured path from first assessment to target grade.
We identify exactly where marks are being lost.
We talk it through with you and your child, then build a learning plan around their results and target grade.
1:1 or small group sessions that close gaps and correct misconceptions.
Regular check-ins and mock papers to measure grade movement.
Qualified Maths Teacher & Founder, Thornwick Education Group
I'm a qualified Maths teacher with a BSc in Mathematics, PGCE and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). I have over five years of tutoring and classroom experience, and I currently teach Mathematics from Year 7 to Year 13 at an Ofsted-rated Outstanding secondary school in London.
Working with students in both the classroom and private tuition, I kept seeing the same problem. Many students were working hard, but they did not know exactly where they were losing marks or what they needed to do differently.
That's what led me to set up Thornwick Education Group.
We don't believe in generic tuition. We start with diagnostic assessment to pinpoint gaps in knowledge, misconceptions and exam technique, then use those findings to create a focused plan for improvement.
Our goal is simple: clear teaching, clear direction and measurable progress, so students always know exactly what they need to do to improve their grade.
Real outcomes from the diagnostic-led approach.
"Our tutor has such a clear way of explaining things that every topic finally clicked for him. He went from dreading maths to actually looking forward to lessons."
"Patient, encouraging and incredibly knowledgeable, our tutor always made time to go over anything she was unsure about until it made sense."
"Our tutor spotted misconceptions we didn't even know existed and explained them so clearly. Revision finally felt manageable instead of overwhelming."
"What stood out was how much our tutor genuinely cared about his progress, not just getting through the syllabus. His confidence grew every week."
"Her tutor's patience and clarity made all the difference — no question was ever too small, and pure maths and mechanics stopped feeling so overwhelming. Her confidence in exams completely turned around."
"We thought an A* was out of reach after his mocks. The targeted plan on exactly where he was dropping marks proved otherwise."
